IN AUGUST 2006 Swedish and Chinese artists were collaborating on a wood symposium “Knock on wood” in Orsa, Sweden. In that time Torsten Jurell made the loudspeaker tower, “Information” which became the start of his work The Girls of Calais. He also made the Maya horseman named "Land and Freedom" and the "Cockroach Girl"...
These fruitful meetings continued with one and a half month in Beijing last summer were Torsten Jurell rented a studio and created several ink paintings.
Some of those paintings will be in the show at Galleri Astley together with sculptures and graphic prints...
